Essex Probation Service is committed to the Training & Development of staff. All staff, on joining the organisation, undergoes a comprehensive Induction Programme that enables them to gain a clear understanding of the work we do and where they fit into the service delivery of that work. There is a Core Training Programme in place that equips new staff with the skills to do their job and staff are released from their daily work to attend this training.
There are also NVQ qualifications to be gained while working on the job. EPS offer NVQs in Management, Community Justice, Business and Admin. & Advice and Guidance.
Professional Qualifications required for certain job roles are also financed and supported e.g. HR, Finance qualifications etc.
Probation Officer training is currently being reviewed and the New Qualification Framework is expected to be in place by April 2010.
