Crime is a very destructive and painful experience for victims. Often the way the legal system deals with offenders, when it is percieved to be too lenient, amplifies that victim experience. The Probation Service is required to both punish offenders in the community and encourage them to be better citizens.

In Essex we ensure that offenders comply with their court orders and on their journey to be better citizens we give them opportunities to repair some of the damage they have done to their communities. We cannot undo the harm that has been done but we do work with offenders and reduce the likelihood of them creating more victims in the future.
