Offender Managerstarting salary £21,391 (unqualified), £28,185 (qualified with Diploma in Probation Studies or equivalent). Work directly with offenders, influence offender behaviour and reduce reoffending, planning work with them and monitoring their progress. They also attend court, ensure court orders are enforced and provide support for offenders’ rehabilitation in the community.
Service Support Officerstarting salary £16,905 SSO’s provide vital support to the teams. They conduct screening interviews with offenders, arrange appointments and court appearances as well as performing general administration duties. Good administration and IT skills are essential for this role.
Unpaid Work Supervisorstarting salary £21,391 Formally known as Community Service Supervisors, these staff manage groups of offenders performing the hours of work ordered by the courts. Work for the community also enables offenders to learn new skills and appropriate behaviour. Projects range from gardening and painting to small building schemes. Good practical skills are essential, as well as the ability to supervise, coach and act as a role-model.
Programme Tutorstarting salary £21,391 Programme Tutors prepare and co-deliver individual and group interventions to offenders. Programmes tackle Drink/Driving, Offending Behaviour, Violence of various kinds and other key causes of crime. The preparation of reports and other documentation is also a requirement of the role.
Court Officerstarting salary £21,391 Court Officers are mainly based in local courts and are responsible for preparing reports for magistrates and judges, as well as liaising with solicitors/counsel and representing the Probation Service in court.
Court Officer/Offender Managerstarting salary £21,391 This is a combined role working in court and as an Offender Manager on a 50/50 split.
